Explore some of Turkey’s Jewish heritage with this private tour!

In Sardis, the ancient capital of Lydia and one of the most important cities of the Persian Empire, you will enjoy a guided tour of the ruins of the Temple of Cybele and Diana.

Take in the views of the “golden river” Pactalos and the Royal Road en route to the reconstructed Sardis Synagogue, the most impressive of the ancient synagogues of the western diaspora.

Enjoy a nice lunch and a rest while you are driven back to Izmir, where the tour will continue in the Karata? district, where most members of the city's Jewish community continue to live. You will walk along Dario Moreno Street and visit the Asansör (meaning elevator), constructed by Nesim Levi in 1907 in order to make it easier for local residents to access the mansions located on top of the hill.

To end this informative and magical day, you will be driven to the Kemeralt? district to discover Havra Street, also known as ''The Street of Synagogues'' because of its nine synagogues which served the Jewish community who lived and worked close by. Three of these historic synagogues are still in use.

The tour includes transfers, air-conditioned transportation, lunch and all entrance fees, service charges and taxes. Personal expenses and drinks during lunch are not included.

Meeting point: Collection from centrally located Izmir hotels or the cruise port, with return service.

Departs At 9am;
Returns At 5pm.
Please note that museums are closed on Mondays. In the event of museum closures, an alternative will be offered. The itinerary involves a good deal of walking, so comfortable footwear is recommended.
