Explore two spiritual reminders of the colonisation of Bolivia with this tour of restored Jesuit missions in Santa Cruz department. The tour initiates in the Collection from hotel, heading to the town of Concepcion were you will visit the museum and the Concepcion church characterized by its belfry which is separated from the main structure. You will be accompanied by a local guide and will be spending the night in town. Concepción was founded by Jesuits and served as a mission place for the Christianisation of the Guaraní people. In the 18th century it was inhabited by 2,000 people from the Punasicas, Boococas, Tubasicas, Puyzocas, Paicones,Quitemos, Quimonecas, Napecas, Tapacuracas and Paunacas tribes.

The next day the tour continues heading towards San Javier town, visiting the church of San Javier and the museum, after that we will return to the city of Santa Cruz. The place used to be part of the Jesuit Missions of the Chiquitos and has been declared a World Heritage Site.

On the way back you can admire the view of the fields of soybean that distinguish the villages of Santa Cruz. Also if we are lucky we could see some of the small villages of the Mennonites, people who migrated to these lands and made it their homes. Most of the 70,000 Mennonites living in Bolivia migrated from Russia and speak Plautdietsch, an archaic German dialect. They are among the most conservative Mennonites in South America.
