Program details

Explore Thessaloniki and its treasure chest of attractions with the hop on-hop off sightseeing bus tour that combines convenience with everything you need to know about this fascinating city and more. Known as Salonica in the past and once home to a vibrant community of Sephardic Jews, modern Thessaloniki boasts no fewer than 15 Unesco World Heritage Sites, many of which can be seen during the tour.

There are eight stops during the tour, which lasts about 80 minutes, with regular departures. Audioguides are available in eight languages. This is the ideal way to discover the city reverently known as the co-capital due to its importance in the Byzantine Empire.

The first stop on the tour is the White Tower, the symbol of the city. Its origins are defensive from the 15th century though it was later a prison. Today it is used by the Byzantine Museum of Thessaloniki. There is also a stop at the Archaeological Museum, which has five sections dedicated to ancient Macedonia.

The world heritage churches of Agia Sofia and Agios Dimitrios are serviced by a stop each, allowing you to alight and visit if you wish. So, too, are the Byzantines city walls and the Arch of Galerius along with the Rotunda of Agios Giorgios. The seventh stop is at Aristotle Square, the heart of the city that rose from the ashes of the great fire of 1917. The final stop is at the port, which has always been Thessaloniki’s window on the outside world.
