Fado first appeared in Lisbon back in the 18th century. Widely considered to be an essential part of the Lusitanian soul, it is nowadays listened to and known in all four corners of the world. In 2011 it was even elevated to World’s Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.

Discover Fado through the streets of Lisbon, the city that cradled and nurtured it. This tour takes you to many iconic locations of this musical genre. You will be able to visit some of the most interesting historical neighbourhoods in town, all of them located around the marvellous city centre. In these quaint bohemian streets it is still very easy to come across “fadistas” – as Fado singers are known in Portuguese – and other performers, all accompanied by the sound of the hauntingly beautiful Portuguese guitar.

As the day goes by and you immerse yourself more and more in some of the quaintest and most hidden alleys of central Lisbon, you will not be able to help feeling like a true “Lisboeta”; especially when you are surrounded by the unparalleled sound of the city’s street musicians.
