Join us on this cultural visit to one of the most famous theatres in the world.
La Scala Theatre is recognised as one of the leading opera venues on the planet. It hosts a Museum that houses a rich collection of costumes and musical instruments as well as a gallery of portraits and busts dedicated to the great musicians in history including Giuseppe Verdi and Arturo Toscanini.
A specialist guide will lead you to discover the museum rooms, with curiosities and anecdotes about great artists who performed on this important stage. As you enter the museum you will be welcomed by a beautiful Somer foertepiano that once belonged to Verdi and a rare 17th century spinet. In the room dedicated to the Commedia dell’Arte you will find the most precious collection of more than 170 pieces of theatre and music related porcelains from some of Europe´s most well-known porcelain factories as well as a selection of very rare medals of artists and composers.
Admire the beautiful works of art displayed in the Painting Gallery where you will find a wall entirely dedicated to Verdi and unwind in the Livia Simoine Library where you can enjoy small concerts and recitals whilst browsing a collection of more than 140,000 theatre-related books and rare musical manuscripts.
You will also dive into the magic of theatre as you admire the beautiful room with the valuable crystal chandelier and the stage. With a little luck you might see the artists rehearsing as you pass through the royal boxes of the theatre! .
