Wrestling began in Mexico in 1840, one hundred years before it was formalized as a sports discipline. It had as a stage public squares, theaters, bullring or some emerging box arenas where demonstrations of Greco-Roman wrestling, judo and jijits were held. At the beginning of the 20th century, the promoters of wrestling events in Mexico City were mainly foreigners. These are the cases of the Italian Giovanni Resselech, who organized two fighting seasons in 1910, or the Belgian Constant le Marin, who in 1921 even presented a function where a Mexican and a Romanian faced each other. With this background, and with the popularity that this activity was acquiring, at the end on September 21, 1933, the first wrestling function was recorded at the Mexico Arena, previously called “Model”
