Il programma nel dettaglio
Your tour will start at the Tucume Archaeological Complex. With over 200 hectares, the complex houses twenty-six monumental buildings associated with less important structures, such as squares, walls, courtyards and water canal systems, which reflect Lambayeque's planned growth system and complex social structure.
You will also visit its site museum to have a better idea of how they lived during that period. The discovery of the Lord of Sipan, whose importance was proven by the complexity of his burial and his apparent semi divine status, led to the creation of a new museum to exhibit such finding. Thus, the Museum of the Royal Tombs -unique in South America- was created after rescuing, researching and restoring all the recorded artifacts.
After enjoying lunch at El Cantaro Restaurant, you will continue your tour to the Huaca Rajada Archaeological Complex. It is a group of huge mud pyramids partially destroyed by weather conditions over the centuries. This place became especially famous in 1987 when Dr. Walter Alva, the director of Lambayeque's Brüning Museum at that time, found out that informal excavations were taking place. What started as a protection plan ended up with the magnificent discovery of the Lord of Sipan's Tomb, one of Peru's most impressive pre-Columbian burials. Then you will be transferred back to your hotel.
