Suggestions before leaving

Teeth - Is recommended a control at your dentist to be sure that your teeth are in order.
The toothache can be extremely irritating and painful and usually a beautiful trip has been seen ruined by an odontalgia. Remember also that the stomatology studies aren't plentiful as in Europe and that a prosthesis repair can represent a problem.

Eyes - Those that carry eyeglasses must be sure of always having a reserve couple; also those that use contact eyeglasses. The writer here some years ago, during a working stay in Pakistan, had to buy with urgency a couple of eyeglasses poking in a wicker basket in the "suk" of a small and lost town of the Indian valley. I could see again and to conclude my mission but at the price of... some sacrifices! The luminous irradiation can be very intense and to force the use of sunglasses. Those special ones against sand are recommended and should be part of the traveler's utensils. We also recommend being provided with an "Optrex" flask - ocular bath usefully used in the morning at the awakening and in the night at the moment of going to bed.
Our eyes, tired by the brightness, by the powder, by the sand, will be able to benefit this way.

Appropriate clothes - The clothes to be used during the stays in tropical and subtropical countries during the day should be slight, not adherent to the body and in clear colors. Everything to be able to consent a free circulation of the air, a freedom of movements and to reject the burning sun rays.
The underwear should be changed daily and wool is not recommended. The cotton is the favorite and advised material because, besides absorbing the perspiration, it can be overexposed to frequent boiling and laundry. The nylon and the artificial fibers in general mustn't be used cause this kind of dress impedes the perspiration and produces cutaneous irritations.
In the night hours remember to exposed the skin the less possible: insects like mosquitoes and some types of flies, parasites porters, are plentiful at these hours and... they seem to have a predilection for the white skin! Advisable then the use of slight and long clothes for the ladies, pants and long sleeves shirts for the gentlemen and the use of Autan or other repellent substances in the uncovered skin.
To remember that the Citronella, a small cespo of filiform leaves of clear green color and lemon scent with which are defined the parterres in the tropical gardens, rubbed in the exposed skin, has an excellent repellent action.
And in matter of clothes, it is worth to remember that the exposition to the sun with consequent "burn" can be unpleasant and even severe, it must be at the beginning very gradual with a daily progression.
As for the footwear we advise to have the feet uncovered or to use open sandals. In the case of "safaris", the called "jungle boot" of cloth and rubber is the ideal footwear.

The head must always be protected, especially in the maximum solar radiation hours, with a slight hat of wide wings.
