Being the most important city in the south of the country, Évora has a lot to offer (it is a UNESCO Heritage site also) and it can all be done walking through its narrow streets, mingling with the locals and watching how day to day is lived here.



During this tour, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the city of Évora, classified as World Heritage by UNESCO. You will have the opportunity to see the city Cathedral, a gothic monument

built between the 12th century and 15th century, the Roman Temple of Diana, the ex-libris of the city. Dating from the 1st century and contrary to what its name may indicate, this temple was dedicated to the imperial cult and not to the referred goddess. It was built during the Roman period in honor to Emperor Augustus. From there you will continue to visit the important Cathedral in late romantic/early Gothic style (exterior). We continue to the Church of San Francisco, where the famous “Capela dos Ossos” (Chapel of Bones) is situated -a small chapel inside S. Francisco Church where all the walls and ceiling are covered with skulls and bones...



There will also be time to explore the historic city centre with its narrow and typically medieval streets.

Lunch at leisure. Then departure to Monte-o -Novo, one of the largest municipalities in Évora and a treasure for you to discover.It is much more than just a small town in Alentejo.



You will see its ancient castle ruins. Most likely built over the ruins of a remote Muslim fortification, Montemor-o-Novo Castle was rebuilt throughout the centuries. And it was also the set of some of the greatest moments in the history of Portugal. In 1496, this was the stage for the final plans of the sea crossing to India by Vasco da Gama.
