Wagah Border is the line of demarcation between India and Pakistan It represents the countries’ attitudes towards each other. Every evening a beating retreat ceremony is held between two nations and in some way represents each countries attitude towards the other and is the sole reason to visit the Wagah border, when you are in Amritsar.
This place has a high degree of security and also has BSF(Border security force) surrounding and scrutinizing the area thoroughly. The border is situated 600 meters east of the Wagah village. The border is strategically placed on the grand trunk road between Lahore, Punjab and Amritsar, India. It is 24 kilometres from Lahore and 32 kilometres from Amritsar. It is a mere 3km from the Attari village that has earned its ceremony the name, Wagah-Attari border ceremony.
On the way, we will also visit Sarai Amanat Khan, a resting place set up by the famous calligrapher of the Taj Mahal, Amanat Khan. It is the only place, apart from the Taj Mahal, where one can witness his calligraphy work.
